Download mot-pass-rates-by-model-year.csv- data_year
- Calendar year of the MOT tests.
- make
- Make, as on our pages.
- model_family
- Model family. We group the DVSA's model names into the model a buyer would name, so a Golf Life TSI counts as a Golf.
- first_use_year
- Year the vehicle was first used. Not the same as the model year.
- initial_tests
- Initial MOT tests on class 4 vehicles in the data year. Retests are not counted. A vehicle tested twice counts twice. At least 1,000 per row.
- first_time_passes
- Initial tests passed with no repairs. A fault repaired at the test centre within an hour (PRS) counts as a fail.
- first_time_pass_rate
- first_time_passes divided by initial_tests, to 3 decimal places.
- same_age_average_pass_rate
- First-time pass rate of every class 4 vehicle first used in the same year: all makes and models, small vans included.
- model_page
- Our page for this model, where there is one.

About these files
- Aggregates onlyPass-rate rows each cover at least 1,000 tests, failure-area rows at least 50 failed tests, advisory rows at least 1,000 vehicles. Smaller groups are left out, as on our pages.
- FormatComma-separated, UTF-8, with the column names in the first row. Rates are proportions from 0 to 1, not percentages. A blank cell means not applicable.
- What is countedInitial MOT tests on class 4 vehicles. Retests are not counted, and a fault repaired at the test centre within an hour (PRS) counts as a fail. The advisory file counts vehicles, each once, across two years.
- For guidance onlyAn MOT checks safety and emissions on the day of the test. These figures are not a measure of breakdowns, repair costs or how long a vehicle lasts.
